Case processing times

Nav processes your case as quickly as possible. The processing time is the period from when we receive your application until a decision has been made.

In particularly demanding cases, or cases where we have not received complete and correct information, the processing time may be longer than we initially indicated.

The processing time may change on short notice, even after we have received your application. This applies in particular during holiday periods.

If you are applying for a change to a benefit that you are already receiving, or a benefit that has been stopped, we will have to reprocess your case.

App and software grants
Provides financial support for apps and software specifically designed for various disabilities.

Assessment
This offer is available to those who unsure of what kind of job they are capable of, e.g. because your health has deteriorated or you have not worked for a long time.

When you contact Nav for help to get a job or keep the job you have, you have the right to an assessment of your job opportunities and what kind of help and support may be relevant for you.

Financial support for children or adults who need long-term, private care and supervision.
Assistive technology for audio and speech
Reading machines, talking household items and talking clocks are examples of devices that can be of great help to people with visual impairment.
Assistive technology for mobility and orientation
For those who are blind or have severely impaired vision, and have difficulty moving about or orienting themselves.
Assistive technology in the bathroom
Fixed equipment in bathrooms that helps those who have difficulties with movement and movement become more independent.
Attendance allowance for developmentally disabled person over 18
Secures you income during absence from work when you have to care for a developmental disabled person over the age of 18 who is very seriously ill.

Care benefit (home with a child who is ill)
Ensures your income when you need to stay home from work due to your child's or caregiver's illness.
Car support, special equipment, and grants for vehicles
Provides financial support for vehicles, vehicle adaptations, and special equipment for cars.

Contractual pension (AFP) for members of the State Pension Fund
An early retirement scheme for employees in the public sector who are between the ages of 62-67 and were born before 1963.
Contractual pension (AFP) in the privte sector
A pension scheme for employees of private companies with a collective agreement where AFP is part of the agreement.
Conversation - aids
Makes it easier to participate in conversations when you have impaired hearing.
Coverage of sickness benefit during the employer period
Nav covers sickness benefit during the employer period if you have frequent absences due to chronic illness or pregnancy.
Disability benefit
Ensures an income if your earning capacity is reduced due to illness or injury.

One of several schemes that provide financial support to children and young people under the age of 18 who need glasses.

Motors to adjust the height of the kitchen counter, cupboards and shelves, so you can be independent in the kitchen.
Higher rate assistance allowance
Financial support for children under the age of 18 when the need for care and supervision significantly exceeds those covered by the standard assistance allowance.

Environmental controls. Remote control of home environments.
Inclusive subsidy
This subsidy is designed to assist your employer in adapting the workspace within your work labor market program.

Insurance to get better coverage when you are on sick leave.
Iris lens
Covering a deformed iris using a specially made contact lens.
Lifting platforms
Lift platforms help wheelchair users move between different levels in a building.
Lifts and transfer platforms
A lift allows you to lift a person safely from a bed to chair, or from sitting to upright etc. A transfer platform provides support for similar movement.
Lump sum grant
A lump sum instead of parental benefit when you are expecting a child and have not had income for at least 6 of the last 10 months before parental benefit leave.
Magnifying aids
If you have a visual impairment, different situations and needs can be facilitated with different enlargement aids.
Membership of the National Insurance Scheme
Membership in the National Insurance Scheme is the key to eligibility for rights to services from Nav. In Norway, your membership can be based on residence or employment. You can also be a member of the National Insurance Scheme during stays abroad.

Practical help, guidance or training when you need help to master your job or education.
Noise-reducing ear plugs
Protects against unpleasant or painful sound when you have reduced tolerance to sound.
Occupational injury or illness - report to Nav
Employers and others in similar positions have a duty to report the injury on your behalf when occupational accidents or harmful exposures occur at work. You can also send a report yourself.
Orthopaedic shoes
Help is available when you have various problems with your feet.
Orthoses
Stabilises or improves function when you have a body part that is paralysed or weakened.
Parental benefit
Replaces your income when you stay at home with the child at birth or adoption.
Paternity or co-maternity established abroad – apply for approval in Norway
Paternity or co-maternity established abroad may be approved in Norway.
Permanent impairment compensation in the event of an occupational injury or illness
Compensation when you have sustained a permanent physical or mental injury caused by an approved occupational injury or illness.
Permanent wage subsidy
A grant that will increase your chances of getting a regular job when you have permanent and significantly reduced work capacity.
Permanent work adsjustment
This offer is available to those who receive disability benefits when you work in a sheltered or ordinary company with adapted work tasks.
Positioning cushions
Specially adapted cushions for support and positioning in lying and sitting positions.
Pregnancy benefit
Replaces income when you are healthy but cannot continue to work during pregnancy because it may entail risks to the baby.

Symbol packages in different formats that enable communication and reduce language barriers.
Ramps
Ramps, threshold eliminators and inclined boards contribute to threshold-free access to dwellings, and between rooms with thresholds and level differences.
Reading and writing support software
Software that supports reading and writing for those who have reading and writing difficulties. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or guardian must sign the application for you.
Retirement pension
Retirement pension from the National Insurance Scheme (Nav) guarantees an income when you retire.
Seat cushions with pressure ulcer prevention properties
Cushions with extra padding that protect and should provide a good seat in the wheelchair.
Sexual assistive technology
Helps provide a better sex life when you have impaired sexual function.
Sickness benefit
Compensates for your income when you are unable to work due to illness or injury.
Software for creating printed communication materials
Software to create, edit and print communication boards, communication books (sound books), aided language boards and voice machine overlays, among others.
Sound equalisation system
Helps you catch what is being said when you are in rooms with lots of sound disturbances.
Special lighting
Additional lighting such as portable lights or bright work lamps specially designed for people with permanent visual impairment.
Sports and functional activities – aids
Activity aids for sports and exercise for children and young people under the age of 26.
Spousal support
A contribution when your ability to support yourself is diminished because of marriage or caring for your children.
Stair lift and stair support systems
A lift with seat or platform that allows those with reduced walking ability to use a staircase.
Standing frame
A support stand to help you get into an upright position.
Summer job grants
A contribution for employers when you want work experience and need help finding a relevant employer.
Supplemental benefit
Support for childcare and expenses you have in connection with education or job search.
Supplemental benefit for former family caregivers
Support for expenses when you complete necessary and approved education to find or keep a job.
Supplemental benefit for single parents
Support for childcare and expenses you have for education or job hunting when you are alone with children.
Supplemental benefit for surviving spouse
Support for childcare and expenses you have in connection with education or job search.
Supplementary benefit for disabled refugees under the age of 67
If you are both disabled and have refugee status, you are guaranteed a total income equivalent to the minimum disability benefit.
Supplementary benefit for persons over 67 who have only lived a short period in Norway
Ensures you a minimum income if you have lived in Norway too short to get full retirement pension.
Support for extraordinary expenses
Payment from the other parent for their share of expenses for braces, confirmation, glasses, etc.
Support for school fees for single parents
Covers expenses related to tuition fees, semester fees and examination fees for single parents when you are studying and are alone with children.
Survivor’s pension
Ensures income if you lost your spouse, partner or cohabitant with whom you have joint children. You can no longer apply for survivor's pension, but you may be entitled to adjustment allowance.

Time-limited wage subsidies
Subsidy to your employer when you need to increase your chances of getting a job with regular pay.
Tinnitus masking device
Creates a countersound to suppress tinnitus (also called ringing in the ears) when it is quiet or when you want to sleep.
Training, stimulation and activation
Aids to improve or maintain motor or cognitive functioning.
Training allowance
Secures you income during absence from work when you are in training to be able to care for a child or an adult.
Transitional benefit for single parents
Ensures you income for up to 3 years when you have at least 60 per cent of the daily care for children under 8 years of age.
Transitional benefit for survivors
Secures income when the marriage has lasted less than 5 years and you have no children together, or if you have daily care for the deceased's children.
Travel allowance
If transportation to and from work enables you to work part or full time, you can get travel allowance instead of sickness benefit.
Travel expenses
Covers your travel expenses when you try out, adapt or repair assistive technology.
TV and radio listening devices
Sends the sound from TV or radio to a desired receiver at your location.
Unemployment benefit (dagpenger)
Unemployment benefit (dagpenger) is a financial support you may get if you are unemployed or temporarily laid off.
Voice amplifiers
Can help those with a low voice or those who struggle to be heard in noisy environments.
Voluntary occupational injury benefit
A voluntary insurance policy when you are self-employed or freelancer.
Wage guarantee
Ensures that you are paid wages, holiday pay and other payment for work you are due, when your employer is unable to pay.
