When you apply for unemployment benefit, we choose the alternative that is best for you.

If you have had an income of at least 204 824 NOK (1,5 G) in the last 12 months, you can choose the last 12 months as your income period.

If you have had an income of less than 204 824 NOK in the last 12 months, but have had a total income of at least 409 647 NOK (3 G) in the last 36 months, you should choose the last 36 months as your income period.

We use the following types of income to calculate your unemployment benefit amount:

• Salary
• Sickness benefit
• Care benefit
• Attendance allowance
• Training allowance
• Pregnancy benefit
• Parental benefit in connection with birth or adoption
• Unemployment benefit

These incomes are not considered as salary:

• Self-employment income
• Work assessment allowance (AAP)

If you provide for children under the age of 18, you will get child supplement of 38 NOK per child, 5 days per week. This is a total of 190 NOK per week per child. If you provide for a child, you are entitled to child supplement even if the child does not live with you.

The child must live in Norway or another EEA country. If the child, over a period of 12 months, spends more than 90 days outside of Norway or another EEA country, you will no longer receive child supplement.
