You will receive a notification of decision in your inbox on nav.no, asking you to choose a repayment plan or repay the full amount. We send out decision letters in groups. You do not need to wait to receive your decision letter to choose a repayment plan. You have 14 days from the date on which you receive your decision letter to choose a repayment plan or repay the full amount. If you do not make a choice, the repayment plan presented in the decision letter will be ascribed to you automatically.
A repayment plan is a way of spreading the repayment of the advance out over a specified period of time. You choose the period over which you want to repay the advance and thus how much you want to pay each month. You can spread the repayment schedule over 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 30 or 36 months.
You can choose a repayment plan on the overview page for advances on nav.no at any time. Here you will also find information about the advances you have received and how much remains to be repaid.
Once you have selected a repayment plan, you will start receiving invoices from Nav.
If your advance was approved after 15 March 2021, 25% of the amount you receive in unemployment benefit will be deducted automatically from your benefit. If your advance was approved before 15 March, you will have the same deduction rate as before.
You have either received both an advance and unemployment benefit for the same period, or you have received an advance and then had your application for unemployment benefit rejected. In both cases, you must repay the advance you received.
The advance ought to have been deducted automatically when you received unemployment benefit, but this was postponed. Now, everyone who applies for an advance will automatically have the money deducted directly from their unemployment benefit. If you are not receiving any ongoing benefits that the advance can be deducted from, you must now repay the outstanding amount.
If you do not repay the advance in accordance with the repayment plan, Nav Innkreving (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration’s collection agency, which is part of the Norwegian Tax Administration) will collect the amount in accordance with the rules of the Act respecting recovery of maintenance allowance (Lovdata). Read more about repayment (skatteetaten.no).
In connection with the repayment of an advance on unemployment benefit, we will handle personal data about you.
Nav’s Privacy Statement provides more detailed information about how Nav processes personal data and your rights in this context.
You have the right to appeal the fact that you must repay the advance or that the collection of the advance has been transferred to Nav Innkreving. The deadline for submitting an appeal is six weeks from the date on which you received a decision on repayment or notification of an automatic deduction.
Read more about appeals when the matter has been transferred to the Tax Administration (previously Nav Innkreving) (text in Norwegian).
