Access to the Aa Register
The information in the NAV State Register of Employers and Employees is subject to confidentiality rules as these are set out in Section 7 of the Labour and Welfare Administration Act.
Information in the Aa Register (Section 7 of the Labour and Welfare Administration Act) is subject to a duty of confidentiality.
Public authorities that require information from the Aa Register to perform their tasks may apply for access. This also applies to public authorities in other countries.
Private actors can apply to access the Register (text in Norwegian) to conduct research when it is compatible with public interests.
Private pension providers may be granted access to necessary information about employment for use in their work on mandatory occupational pensions.
NAV uses an external data processor to distribute information in the Aa Register, but during the fourth quarter of 2021 NAV will distribute the data itself.
