Examples of calculations for survivor's pension and survivor’s transitional benefit

 Example 1

Your income:

500,000 kr

Minus ½ G (as at 01 May 2017):

- 46,817 kr

= 453,183 kr

40 percent is deducted from this total: NOK 453,183 x 40 percent = NOK 181,273.

This means that the survivor’s pension/survivor’s transitional benefit is reduced by NOK 181,273 per year, which is NOK 15,106 per month.

If the deceased’s accumulated rights were low, the calculation may look like this:

The deceased’s accumulated rights calculated as a monthly pension:

15,500 kr

Deductions based on your monthly income:

- 15,106 kr

Monthly survivor's pension/survivor’s transitional benefit payment

=      394 kr

 Example 2

Your income:

350,000 kr

Minus ½ G (as at 01 May 2017):

- 46,817 kr

= 383,183 kr

40 percent is deducted from this total: NOK 303,183 x 40 percent = NOK 121,273.

This means that the survivor’s pension/survivor’s transitional benefit is reduced by NOK 121,273 per year, which is NOK 10,106 per month.

If the deceased’s accumulated rights were a little higher, the calculation may look like this:

The deceased’s accumulated rights calculated as a monthly pension:

20,000 kr

Deductions based on your monthly income:

- 10,106 kr

Monthly survivor's pension/survivor’s transitional benefit payment

=      9,894 kr
