Job club

Job club is a short-term employment scheme that helps participants gain ordinary employment. Job club participants learn to orient themselves in the labour market and to be active jobseekers.

Description of the scheme

Participating in a job club enables you to become an active jobseeker. You will gain greater awareness of your skills through individualised coaching. In the job club, you will learn how to write a CV (Curriculum Vitae) and applications for relevant jobs based on the vacancy listings. Interviewing practice and the use of your own networks are also central components of job club. We emphasise awareness of your own skills, interests and experience, and the development of the ability to market these to employers.

Participants get access to the necessary computer and communication tools, and get assistance in the use of these.

Who can participate in this scheme?

The job club target group is jobseekers who are registered with the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration, and who will benefit from a structured and goal-oriented course during their job hunt. There are no formal admission criteria. The assessment of whether participation in a job club is needed is made by the jobseeker and the caseworker in connection with follow-up by the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV).

What you will gain from participating in the trainee scheme

Jobbklubb (Job Club) is a short-term employment scheme consisting of a combination of regular group-based training and individual activities. Some job clubs run for longer, for up to six months, depending on the participants' needs.

If you receive benefits from the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV), these continue while you participate in a job club. If you do not receive benefits from the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV), you can apply for Individual benefits while you participate in a job club. You can also apply for a travel allowance while you participate in a job club.

How to apply

Contact your local office of the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV).  If you need to participate in job club to help find work, we recommend that you register as a jobseeker.
