False or inaccurate information - unemployment benefits
NAV will verify any and all information you provide as a recipient of unemployment benefits, collaborating with the Tax Administration and the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund, among others.
If you have provided false or inaccurate information, causing you to receive unemployment benefits you are not entitled to, you may lose your benefit rights for a period of up to 26 weeks. In addition, NAV may order you to reimburse them for benefits to which you were not entitled.
If you receive unemployment benefits you are not entitled to, and you are aware of this fact or acted with gross negligence, you may be subject to criminal prosecution.
The courts take a harsh view of any abuse of the national insurance scheme, and custodial sentences are the norm if the amount in question exceeds a certain limit and the person has acted with intent. In other cases, sanctions include suspended sentences, community sentences and/or fines.
