I am from Poland and will be studying in Norway for six months. Am I a member of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme?

I come from Senegal, have been granted voluntary membership, and had a child a month ago. What am I entitled to?

Answer: What entitlements your membership provides will depend on the sections of Norwegian National Insurance that your membership allows. You must also satisfy certain conditions for each benefit.

I am Danish, studying in Norway and have registered moving to Norway. Now I have become pregnant. Am I entitled to any benefits?

Answer: Persons from Nordic countries, registered on the National Population Register in Norway are members of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme with equal rights to those of other residents in Norway. You can apply for lump sum grant in connection with giving birth.

I come from Australia and will be studying in Norway for ten months. I have heard that Norway and Australia have an agreement about medical assistance for persons staying temporarily in Norway or Australia. Does this agreement apply to students?

Answer: No. This agreement does not apply to students. You can apply for voluntary membership of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme for the period of your studies.
