A DVD in English, Polish and German constitutes NAV’s new effort to recruit workers abroad. The film “Moving to Norway” is aimed to make the Norwegian labour market more attractive.
- This is our greatest measure so far, says Berit Alfsen, leader of NAV Eures in the Directorate of Labour and Welfare. The DVD has been produced in 20 000 copies, to be distributed during recruitment meetings all over Europe. Many of those who want to work in Norway turn to the embassies, and NAV will ensure that the employees there know where to find the film, as well as other information within this field.
The background for making the DVD was a request from The Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion that job seekers receive good information about Norway – concerning possibilities, rights and duties. This is what Eures now ensures, in a new way.
- Eures’ main objective is to make sure that job seekers and employers within the EU/EEA find each other. There is a strong need for workers in this country, and with this measure we hope more people will look for work in Norway. The film “Moving to Norway” presents the country in a way that is closer to reality than we will ever manage through brochures alone, Alfsen says.
The film is based on many of the questions people who will or want to move to Norway to find work might ask themselves. This includes job opportunities, wages, working hours, the cost of living and housing, but also what to do in one’s spare time.
- We just wish to make important information accessible and easy to understand, says Alfsen.
